STUDENTS

I discovered Rathdowne Yoga Room as a uni student in 2000 and became passionate about Iyengar. Ever since I have gone out of my way to attend Frank’s classes. Due to Frank’s superlative awareness and knowledge of the body my yoga practice has advanced considerably and I’ve even converted my parents to Iyengar!

I started as a newbie in 2008 and haven't stopped since (despite moving to a farther suburb). Frank's teaching style is very practical; he uses musculoskeletal diagrams & dummies to explain the cause and effects of the asanas. Though spiritual aspects of Yoga are not taught here, you'll eventually learn how to use awareness/consciousness on demand (a fundamental step for learning meditation).

I have been practising yoga on and off for the last 20 years, and came to the Rathdowne Yoga Room about 2 years ago, after my last yoga instructor gave up teaching. From the start, I have appreciated the small class sizes and the individual attention that Frank provides to all students - something that is not practical at many yoga schools. I feel that this personal approach to teaching has enabled my yoga to improve more in the last couple of years, than in all of my previous experience.
